Our VR experience took members of the community and key stakeholders on a guided journey through their future library to encourage discussion and engagement.
Patyegarang Place is a new library that will create an engaging and inspiring space for the entire Marrickville community. The design extends beyond the traditional perception of a public library, catering for Marrickville's diverse community whilst remaining sympathetic to the original heritage-listed hospital building.
Our Approach
We created a virtual storytelling experience that communicates the vision of the project and the depth of the design. Once the user has familiarised themselves with the library spaces, there is an opportunity to join other people to explore the library together via our multiplayer functionality.
This allows for an architect led design tour, user testing with future staff members or members of the community, interacting with the library’s amenities and facilities. This creates a social and collaborative experience that encourages open discussion and dialogue.
Outcome
Our VR experience encourages social inclusion, community engagement and stakeholder involvement prior to the building’s completion. By encouraging multiple users to enter the space at the same time it increases engagement and allows them to truly appreciate the design.
